The Rusty Icicle…

I hate going grocery shopping .. but its something that we all have to do … that is us normal people … i hear that there are people that have people that do the grocery shopping for them … maybe one day i will be among the people who have people to stuff for them … but till that happens … i have to continue to do the stuff that i would otherwise have people do for me …

so i go to Al Fair in shatti to pick up a few things for next week … the place is packed with all sorts of people … as i walk around i notice this strange formation in one of the freezers … what on earth is that thing? it looks like its swallowing the chicken nugget box right under it …

as i take a closer look … i realize that its ice … its an icicle … an icicle ? … yes an icicle

i dont think ive ever seen one of those before … i mean in Oman … we dont have icicles in Oman …not usually at least … and what is this icicle doing in Al Fair in Shatti ?  … so far away from home, how did it get there?  and this one looks really odd … i couldnt tell if its going down or going up? … is it here alone? … i immediately start looking around for more icicle … there might be others … they might move in packs like some people from the office …

side note: i have been noticing that some people move in packs … at least 3 or 4 … you cant find one of them alone … they are usually of eastern and middle eastern ethnicity … and usually lower down the command chain … i have not had enough time to study this type of group behavior … but i find to be very interesting … maybe people of other ethnic backgrounds also move in packs but are not available (in the Omani work place) in the numbers that allow them to manifest this type of group behavior ….

After looking around the freezer … and below it i could not find another icicle …  there arnt any more … dont they move in pack ? … hmmm … maybe icicles only exist in pairs 😀 … i dont know … and i didnt have time to investigate that one … but i did notice something else …

After really looking at this stuff for a few minutes, i could only conclude that this is probably the remains of an icicle … an icicle that has been attacked by what i concluded to be rust or corrosion or oxidization … this is of course a mere conclusion … my chemistry set was in the other car … so i could not verify my findings and i really needed to buy some eggs and get home … i dont know how this icicle managed to get there and fight with the rust with all these people around … did i mention that there is frozen food … chicken especially all over this thing?

I spoke to the manager … he didnt have much to say … so i left him to deal with it … i dont think i am going back there though … if anyone does go there after reading this … please let me know if the icicle managed to escape …
